1851 birthplace map

This is the second in the migration map series, showing the locations in the UK in which residents of Amersham in 1851 were born. There are a small handful of residents from outside the UK, which I will show on a later map, but the map size was already quite large just with these. People born in Amersham make up a very high percentage of residents.

I’ll be adding a proper slippy map in time, but what you can see in the image shows many counties with no residents, then increments of 20 up to to 60, for the three counties around Amersham. Finally the dark dot is for Amersham itself. The number of residents born in Amersham and still living there in 1851 was 1187. It will be interesting to see if migration levels change as the railway arrives.
